Activities

Santa Ana is a great place to celebrate the holidays! The abundance and variety of different festive activities in the area are perfect for everyone—adults and kids alike!

Santa Is Coming to Town : What do kids love more than Santa Claus? Not much, to be honest. Give your children the opportunity they’ve always dreamt of: meeting Santa! Set up a time to get a portrait of your children with their hero on December 3 near Villa Park. Your kids will love you for giving them the opportunity to pose with jolly old St. Nick.

Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade and Ring of Lights Cruise : The holidays are the most beautiful time of the year at Newport Bay! Lights glisten off the water as homeowners and businesses go all out in preparation for the Ring of Lights competition. But you don’t have to wait until then to enjoy this magical holiday experience. Newport Landing provides 75-minute cruises December 2–31, and Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade Cruises are offered December 14–18. This is a beautiful sight that you won’t want to miss!
Anaheim Town Square Holiday Carnival : If you love Santa Clause and winter activities, this event will be the highlight of your holiday season. On November 27 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., friends and families can visit Santa Clause as children tell him what they want for Christmas. Additionally, the carnival will offer real snow sledding, pony rides, games, and bounce houses. And to bring some friendly competition, there will be a cookie-decorating contest. Bring your loved ones—and your decorating skills—and get ready to have some fun!
OC New Year’s Eve Party at Gatsby’s House : Who doesn’t love ’20s fashion mingled with a New Year’s Eve celebration? Ring in the new year at the most upscale party in Huntington Beach at the Pasea Hotel. The celebration begins on December 31 at 9:00 p.m. and will end on January 1, 2023, at 2:00 a.m. Enjoy a premium open bar, the top Orange County DJs, and a massive ballroom. Don’t forget to wear your best Gatsby outfit and your dancing shoes.

These trees will be the perfect addition to your home this holiday season!
Newport Holiday Market : Once your house has been decorated, you’ll need to find some unique gifts for all your friends and family. The Holiday Market in Newport is the perfect place to go! Find hand-crafted gifts from local vendors, good food, live music, photo opportunities, and a fireworks show. The best part is that the event is kid- and pet-friendly!

Opportunities to Share

Sure, everyone loves receiving gifts, but true joy comes from sharing that special feeling by giving to others. If you have the means or time during this special time of year, consider giving to those less fortunate so they too can feel the joy this winter season. Here are some great volunteer opportunities in Santa Ana, CA.

Winter Wonderland Toy Drive : Join the spirit of giving at this toy drive happening December 10 in Huntington Park. At this event, children will be able to receive a toy and participate in fun children’s activities, while other attendees will have access to health screenings, COVID-19 vaccines, haircuts, and additional resources and information. This event is free and open to all families!

Operation Santa Claus : Unfortunately, thousands of children in Orange County won’t be having a very merry Christmas this year. That is, without our help, at least. This holiday season, donate toys and gifts to the children and families in need in Santa Ana. Last year, Operation Santa Claus was able to distribute over 39,000 toys and gifts to vulnerable children in Orange County. Help bring that same happiness and hope to children in need again this year by donating to Operation Santa Claus.

Safe Celebration

No good thing can come without at least a little bit of a drawback. While almost everyone loves a good pine-scented candle this time of year, it’s important to be careful! Did you know that up to 7,500 fires are started each year just because of household candles? Take extra caution when lighting candles in your apartment, especially your bedroom. Battery-powered candles can achieve the same ambiance without the added danger and may be a good thing to consider. Whatever you do, never leave your holiday candles unattended!

Another important fire hazard to be aware of is your beloved Christmas tree. If you brought a real Christmas tree home for the holidays, make sure to water it often so it doesn’t dry out. Dry pine needles are extra flammable. Keep all open flames—whether they’re from a candle, your fireplace, or somewhere else—away from the branches, and make sure you turn all lights off when you’re not at home. Stay safe and enjoy the holidays!

With plenty of activities, shows, places to shop, and opportunities to share, Santa Ana is the perfect place to be during the holidays.

We’d love to see your holiday fun! If you decorate for the holidays or try out one of the activities above, post a photo on social media, tag us , and use #TisTheSeasonAtAMC.

Did you know that people who own pets are generally happier? This can be for a number of reasons. Pets like cats and dogs provide more opportunities to be active, affectionate, and social. Even smaller pets like birds, reptiles, and small mammals can give owners a sense of responsibility and a mood boost. Going to court isn’t something most people look forward to. However, when it comes to the Old Orange County Courthouse in Santa Ana, California, the experience is less legal and more informational, and movie-lovers may enjoy it more than they think thanks to the building’s vibrant 120-year-old history.
